LDCONF - the data
We returned recently from the Liberal Democrat Annual Conference in Liverpool. As we did last year, we live-tweeted through @TMliveevents, shared insights on the mood and stories from the conference and did a series of @audioboo interviews with influencers, MPs, experts and ministers. All the content we produced during the conference can be found on our Twitter account - @tweetminster - and our audioboo channel.
We were delighted to have teamed up with @channel4news to put together a conference channel, which encompassed live trends, relevant tweets and the most shared links around the event.
Through the channel we processed 10,182 tweets over the course of the five days. We’ve now analysed the data, and thought it would be worth sharing the more interesting sets of insights and data.
Of the 29 Lib Dem MPs on Twitter, 13 tweeted during #ldconf. You can download the data here.
The top trends from the conference were, as expected, mainly around the speeches - with Nick Clegg and Vince Cable topping the list of trends, and Danny Alexander, Simon Hughes and Chris Huhne also featuring highly.
A lot of words were spent talking about Labour, the Conservatives and the coalition, respectively the third, fourth and fifth most mentioned trends around the conference. While in terms of topics, issues and policies - cuts, free schools, voting reform, tax avoidance, councils, the ‘green deal’ the ‘big society’ and banks were widely mentioned. Polls released during the conference, and the whereabouts of Charles Kennedy were also widely discussed (on Twitter at least).
You can download the 50 top trends here.
@bbclaurak was the most mentioned journalist around #ldconf, while @cathynewman ‘s piece about Clegg’s claims on child poverty was the most shared link by influencers on Twitter.
See you at #Lab10 - the big stories will be coming out of @tweetminster, the live feed of the main events from @TMLiveEvents and audioboos will be featured on our channel.
